Once a YouTube live stream has been created the following information is shown, which is needed to connect the stream with OBS.
Title | Explanation |
Stream key (paste in encoder) | This is the streaming key that needs to be inserted in the encoder. |
In OBS click on 'Settings' in the bottom right corner.
Select 'Stream' from the menu on the left side and fill in the following information for each tab:

Server | Primary YouTube ingest server |
Stream Key | Stream key |
Select 'Output' from the menu on the left side and fill in the following information for each tab:
Tab in OBS | Fill in |
Output Mode | Simple |
Video Bitrate | Enter desired bitrate |
Encoder | Software (x264) |
Audio Bitrate | Select desire bitrate |
Click on 'OK' in the bottom right corner.
Click on 'Start Streaming' in the bottom right corner to go live.
A preview of the stream will be displayed in YouTube Studio. Hit the 'Go live' button in the top-right corner to start the stream. Insert the live stream in the Let's Get Digital environment.
